Privacy statement

Lilliput Preschool respects your privacy and the privacy of your tamariki. This statement explains what we collect through this website, why, and what you can do about it. It follows the Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect

When you send an enquiry, we ask for your name, email and mobile number, and some details about your child: their first name, date of birth (or due date), and the start date and days you’re interested in. You can also tell us how you heard about us and add a message.

When you enrol, we ask for the information we need to care for your child safely and to meet our legal obligations. This includes health and immunisation details, emergency contacts, people who may or may not collect your child, and ethnicity and iwi information.

Why we collect it

To reply to your enquiry and arrange a visit, to enrol and care for your child, to keep them safe, and to meet the reporting requirements of the Ministry of Education.

Who sees it

  • Our centre leadership and kaiako, as they need it to care for your child.
  • Our enquiry form is our own: what you send goes to our centre team and is kept on our own secure system.
  • Our enrolment form is provided by Discover, the childcare management system we use, and your enrolment information is stored there.
  • Google, which provides our website statistics (see Cookies and analytics below).
  • The Ministry of Education and other government agencies, only where the law requires it.

We do not sell your information or share it for marketing.

Keeping it safe

We take reasonable steps to keep your information secure and only keep it for as long as we need it, or as long as the law requires.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you or your child, and ask us to correct it. Email us at admin@lilliputpreschool.co.nz or talk to us at the centre.

If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled your information, please talk to us first. You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use this website, for example how many people visit, which pages they read, and whether they reach our enquiry page. It helps us make the website more useful for families.

Google Analytics uses small files called cookies, stored in your browser, to tell one visit from another. It doesn’t tell us who you are, and Google doesn’t keep your IP address. We only see totals, not individual visitors. We don’t use advertising cookies, and we don’t use this information for marketing.

If you’d rather not be counted, you can block cookies in your browser’s settings, or use Google’s opt-out tool at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
